Racing News October 2011

With most of the racing season now complete we are delighted to have been involved with so many championship wins and successes in 2011. Following on from the recent preview of the Supermoto of Nations, the event has now taken place and the Rock supported team GB finished 2nd overall, their highest ever finish.

supermoto of_nations_gbFantastic performances by all of the team gave them a great chance of winning the overall title but in the end they were just edged out by a very strong French team.

The BSB championship has now ended and we are pleased to announce that Glen Richards aboard the WFR Honda has won the EVO Superbike championship. Graeme Gowland also of WFR Honda finished second and but for missing some of the earlier rounds through injury would have very likely pushed Glen for the title. Graeme finished the season especially strongly and was mixing it with the full factory superbikes at the front of the grid for the last few rounds. With rule changes to the BSB coming in 2012, Team WFR should be well placed to be a major force in the full championship next season.

wfr honda_evo_championsIn the Supersport class Gearlink Kawasaki's Ben Wilson was pipped at the very final hurdle after leading the championship for most of the season. He lost the title by just one point after a terrific scrap over the 3 races at the final round at Brands Hatch. In spite of this the Rock supported team have had a brilliant season, with many wins and podiums and they will surely be going for the title in 2012.

We are pleased to announce Rock supported rider Aidan Collins recently claimed the British Shortrack title. Aidan is a new rider for us in 2011 and onboard his Plant Honda was the dominant rider throughout the year winning 4 out of 6 events.

Rock have had a great year on and off track and a full round up of the years racing will be in the next Rock Gossip out next month.
