We've been sent through a great video from the Buildbase Honda MX team that we'd like to share with you.
The Buildbase Honda MX team have made the long trip south to the Italian island of Sardinia where they have been testing for the last week ahead of this weekend's season opening meeting on the beautiful isle.
Watch this short film to be part of the road trip and to see Kristian Whatley and Gert Krestinov putting their 2015 machines through their paces before they go in to battle proper this Sunday.
The 2015 Motorcycle Trade Expo came to a close on Tuesday and has proven to be our most successful yet with many new customers welcomed on board. The Expo is also a fantastic opportunity to meet and discuss plans for the year ahead with long standing trade partners.
Kick-starting the year in terms of the motorcycle trade the Expo was back at Stoneleigh Park following the change in venue from the NEC. The show is well suited to this friendly venue and busy throughout the three days, unaffected by the cold weather outside.
Distributors and staff talked to visitors on a range of subjects related to our Rock Oil motorcycle range, with many staying for a quick refreshment from our much-loved hospitality bar. With so many new products and fresh packaging schemes for existing ranges the Rock brand continues to rise in prominence, with a buzz going around the venue following our recent trade award.
We would like to thank all who came to see us. We look forward to another great year in the motorcycle arena and show you some exciting new products as 2015 'rocks' on!
We are delighted to announce that Rock Oil has won ‘Motorcycle Trader Consumables Supplier of the Year 2015’. The award comes after a shortlist process with Motorcycle Trader magazine and then votes from within the motorcycle trade itself.
We take great pride in this award as we believe it shows vindication in the program of improvements that we have been implementing over the past 3-5 years. From multi-language labels with high impact imagery, a new website and some fantastic relationships with racing partners it shows that the brand is seen as progressive and forward thinking. We celebrate 87 years in business this year which is some achievement but there is always the need to keep driving forward and offering customers a high quality product at a cost effective price. We would like to thank all friends, customers & racing partners, without whom we would not be able to succeed.
As we start 2015 there is a lot to look forward to, starting with a presence at the Autosport Show taking place at the NEC in Birmingham. Two customers, Jamsport Racing and The National College of Motorsport were displaying the high performance Carbon range of lubricants. The recently launched range is already being used by a number of professional teams and recent independent tests conducted in the US have shown fantastic friction coefficient and wear results compared to a leading market rival.
The Motorcycle Trade Expo quickly follows the Autosport show and the Expo is really the catalyst for the start of the motorcycle season. This trade only show is a small but important event and is back at Stoneleigh Park near Coventry. Rock would like to welcome all visitors to its stand (at A38) to see the full range of motorcycle products and enjoy some light refreshments.
Following the success of the International Dirtbike Show Rock Oil are delighted to announce a partnership with OSET Bikes in 2015. We will be supporting a series of OSET events throughout the year by supplying Rock Oil products, with OSET promoting our lubricant range where possible.
The founder and CEO of OSET Bikes, Ian Smith, said: "I am delighted to be working with Rock Oil next year. We have a strong working relationship that allows us to respond to opportunities fluidly – pardon the pun! Most importantly I think the two companies share a similar set of values as we’re both family-run businesses – although Rock Oil has a good few years on us as they head towards their hundredth year in business."
Rob Sheldon, our Motorsports Manager explained: "I’m very much looking forward to working with OSET Bikes this year. The two companies enjoy a shared ethos and I think we’ll compliment each other well as we develop our working relationship over the 2015 season."
In addition to supporting OSET Bikes, we're also pleased to add two of OSET’s national level riders to our Rock rider roster, brothers Dominic and Alexander Horne from Yorkshire.
Rob added: "It’s about keeping the family theme, so to be able to support two brothers who are both set to ride at the highest level in the UK matches the quality of products with developing talented riders."
"Sponsorship within motorsport and especially trials riding is notoriously difficult to attract and we are delighted and very grateful to the support Rock Oil is able to offer Dom and Alex this year," added mum Michelle Horne "We’ll be working hard to ensure the boys continue to enjoy the sport and achieve their goals."
The 2014 International Dirtbike Show ended on Sunday complimenting a fantastic four days for the Rock Oil brand. Right from the outset we were constantly active with many hundreds of visitors and friends at the familiar black, white and green stand.
Visitors to the Rock booth were able to grab themselves a goodie bag with a selection of posters, stickers and a stick of rock (that's candy for our overseas friends!) On the stand we presented our very latest off road products and introduced our new high performance engine coolant ‘Iced Kool’ in its first public appearance. With the Rock Oil brand becoming increasingly high-profile on a global scale in addition to our new range of products in the pipeline, it's clear that the International Dirtbike Show was the ideal platform for the brand.
The show also provided us with perfect opportunities to meet with race partners and discuss plans for 2015 and beyond. We are delighted to renew our partnership with Buildbase Honda and their team of Kristian Whatley, Gert Krestinov and Luke Hawkins. We're also excited to announce we will be working with Paul Edmondson and Fast Eddy Racing as we continue our support of the UK’s Premier Enduro events. Last but certainly not least we're fired up to confirm our support of Tom Sagar and Brad Freeman in the British and European Enduro championships.
The International Dirtbike Show opened yesterday to great success. We're delighted to see so many visitors at the Rock Oil stand and the show in general and the atmosphere was buzzing! We were inundated with visitors of all types from race teams through to young children looking to cover their walls with posters and stickers of their favourite Rock rider heroes. The Dirtbike Show is currently running until Sunday the 2nd of November, over this weekend we look forward to catching up with more friends both old and new and to have a perfect opportunity and venue to present the latest Off Road Motorcycle range to the public.
Also at the Rock Oil stand we're giving our first public presentation of our brand new performance coolant ‘Iced Kool’ along with all of the highlighted products recently launched in the Rock Oil range. Official Iced Kool launch information will be on this website and the usual social media channels next week.
Rock supported rider Ryuichi Kiyonari finished in second place in the 2014 MCE British Superbike Championship after a fractured collarbone prevented him from contesting last weekend’s three races. Kiyo was hoping to be able to ride after physiotherapy and pain relief, but it was too much to ask and he was just not fit enough in time.
Kiyonari fought a season-long battle treating fans to thrilling race action at circuits the length of the country. The disappointing final round comes at the end of Hawk Racing and BMW Motorrad UK’s most successful season ever in the series, with a total of seven wins and six further podium finishes in Kiyo’s maiden season on the BMW S 1000 RR.
In addition to Kiyonari’s second place in the championship, the team is also celebrating fellow Rock rider Lee Jackson taking third place in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship. Jackson, a regular podium finisher, raced consistently over the racing season securing third place two rounds ago.
Ryuichi Kiyonari said: “I’m obviously disappointed not to get to battle with Shakey at Brands Hatch, but looking back at this incredible season I am very, very happy. Around one year ago I first spoke to Stuart Hicken and signed to ride the BMW S 1000 RR and we hoped, maybe, to win a race in 2014. We have done that seven times and we are second in the championship. I wanted to prove that I was still fast and now that is certain.
“Shakey was great fun to race against and we had some very good battles on track. Now I am looking forward to riding in 2015 and we start to think about that on Monday. There is a new BMW S 1000 RR which I am very excited to try and to start testing as soon as possible. I have come to realise this year just how much support I have had from the British public and the fans and it is amazing. I am very thankful for everyone who has been involved in my year- thank you all so much.”
Stuart Hicken, Team Owner, said: “It would be easy to focus on this weekend, but it comes at the end of an unbelievable year. If someone had offered us seven wins and second place in the championship at the start of the season, we’d have bitten their hand off. Kiyo has given 100% every race and between us, the team and support from BMW Motorrad, we’ve turned the S 1000 RR into an absolutely formidable race-winning package. The team and my three riders have given their all this year and I couldn’t be prouder.”
